CM Mann slams Centre’s move to deploy CISF at Nangal Dam, calls cost burden ‘anti-Punjab’

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has strongly criticised the Centre’s decision to deploy 296 personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for the security of Nangal Dam and to shift the financial burden of approximately Rs 8.5 crore per year onto the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) or the Punjab government.
Addressing a press conference at the district administrative complex, Mann said the move was “anti-Punjab” and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He expressed concern over the unilateral imposition of financial responsibility on the state or BBMB for a decision taken by the central government.
The chief minister urged the Centre to reconsider the deployment and the associated cost, calling it unjustified and detrimental to Punjab’s interests.
