CM meeting with 32 farmer organisations of Samyuktkisan Morcha begin in Chandigarh
The 32 farmer organizations from the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) started a meeting with the Chief Minister of Punjab at Punjab Bhawan today.
Additionally, two Punjab cabinet ministers, Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and Gurmeet Singh Khudia, are also in present. The agenda encompasses discussions on issues concerning the ongoing Delhi farmers’ agitation. The meeting will also address cases filed by the Railway Department during the farmers’ protests, as well as the concerns of farmer leaders from Punjab.
The leaders are emphasizing the need for adequate compensation for crop damage resulting from floods and hailstorms this year, advocating for impartial and uniform compensation distribution. Furthermore, they are raising a demand during this meeting for the implementation of a debt settlement scheme by cooperative institutions like Landmortgage and the Punjab Agricultural Development Bank, mirroring practices followed by other banks.
