Cold wave welcomes new year, red fog alert in 13 districts of Punjab
In Punjab, the new year was welcomed with severe cold. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert of fog for today. In view of the weather, the government has also changed the timings of schools and Anganwadi centers.
All government, private and aided schools in the state will open from January 1, 2024 from 10 am to 3 pm due to cold. School Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that this order of change in time will remain in force till January 14, 2024. At the same time, it has been decided to change the opening time of Anganwadi centers to 10 am. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that all the centers will open at 10 am from January 1 and close at 1 pm.
On Sunday, the day temperature again dropped by 1.5 degrees. Now the temperature has reached 6.7 degrees below normal. From Thursday to Sunday, Punjab’s temperature has fallen by 9.3 degrees. On Sunday, there was no sighting of the Sun for the second consecutive day and there was a sheet of dense fog all around.
