Congress MLAs walk out of Punjab Assembly over denial of speech to Khaira
Chandigarh: Congress MLAs staged a walkout from the Punjab Assembly on Monday, protesting the alleged denial of a chance for party MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira to speak.
During Zero Hour, Bholath MLA Khaira sought permission from Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan to raise issues in the House. Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa supported Khaira and urged the Speaker to allow him to speak.
As Khaira pressed for his turn, Sandhwan asserted his discretion in deciding who could speak. Khaira briefly sat down but later stood up again, demanding to raise issues related to farmers.
The Speaker, however, allowed MLA Sandeep Jakhar to speak instead, prompting the Congress MLAs to walk out in protest.
