Counting of votes in 14 seats in Punjab, Chandigarh: Former Congress CM Channi’s lead crosses 1 lakh
Chandigarh: Counting of votes for 14 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab and Chandigarh began at 8 am. By 2 pm, the situation of defeat and victory will be clear.
In Jalandhar, Congress’ Charanjit Singh Channi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Sangrur Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer continue to lead.
Independent candidates Faridkot Sarabjit Singh Khalsa and Amritpal Singh are leading from Khadoor Sahib.
Nine counting centres have been set up for each seat in which 15000 employees have been deployed. More than 12,000 security personnel have been deployed to prevent any disturbance.
All eyes are on Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Harsimrat Kaur from Bathinda, Congress state president and candidate from Ludhiana Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and BJP’s Ravneet Bittu, BJP candidate Maharani Preneet Kaur from Patiala and Khadoor Sahib pro-Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh, who is contesting as an independent candidate.
After many years, all the parties in the state are in the electoral fray alone, Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP.
