DC HANDS OVER CITIZEN CERTIFICATE TO TWO BROTHERS LIVING IN INDIA FOR OVER 22 YEARS

Jalandhar News: Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh today handed over citizen certificates to two brothers living in Jalandhar for over 22 years after leaving Pakistan in 2001. Gopal Chand and Gurdial Chand, both residents of Basti Danishmanda, have been living in Jalandhar with their families and had applied for Indian Citizenship. Earlier, the administration had administered citizenship oaths to both of them, following which the citizen certificate have been issued.

 

BOTH LEFT PAKISTAN WITH FAMILIES IN 2001 AND SETTLED IN JALANDHAR

Giving more details, the deputy commissioner said that both Gopal Chand and Gurdial Chand had left Sialkot (Pakistan) in 2001 and arrived in India through Samjhota Express via Attari Border. Since then, they have been living in Jalandhar, hence eligible for obtaining Indian Citizenship, he added. He further mentioned that after going through documents submitted by both of them; the administration has approved their applications under Citizenship Act, 1955. The DC said that the certificates of registration as Indian Citizens have been handed over to Gopal Chand and Gurdial Chand on Tuesday and they would be eligible to apply for the citizenship of their children as well.

After receiving the citizen certificate, both the brothers expressed their gratitude to Jalandhar DC for processing their applications under Citizenship Act saying that the Jalandhar Administration has assisted them in a positive manner to fulfill all the requirements laid down under the Act.
