Deported youth from US goes missing from home in Punjab’s Landra village

Chandigarh: A 40-year-old man deported from the United States has gone missing from his home in Landra village, Punjab, hours after his return. The man, identified as Davinderjit, was among a group of Indians deported from the US and was dropped off at his residence around 9:30 pm on Wednesday by local officials and police personnel.

According to his mother, Davinderjit appeared tense throughout the night and left home early Thursday morning on a motorcycle. She stated that she was unaware of his whereabouts as she was asleep at the time.

Family members said Davinderjit had initially traveled to Dubai about one and a half months ago before heading to the US in search of work. He was arrested by US authorities 13 days ago and deported without any contact with his family.

Local officials, including Phillaur Naib Tehsildar Sunita Khilan, confirmed that a police team had dropped him home on Wednesday night. However, when officials visited his house on Thursday, they found him missing.

The villagers have urged the Indian government to support Davinderjit and other deported individuals. Authorities are yet to trace his whereabouts.
