Disgruntled SAD leaders submit memorandum to Akal Takht against Sukhbir Badal
Chandigarh: Disgruntled Akali leaders members and former members of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) from a faction opposing the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) submitted a memorandum to Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh at the Secretariat of Sri Akal Takht.
The letter accuses SAD leadership of misconduct and urges action against party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and others.
The signatories include SGPC members Jaswant Singh Purain, Rampal Singh Behniwal, Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, Paramjit Singh Raipur, Jathedar Hardev Singh, Teja Singh, former member Harbans Singh Manjhpur, and others.
Although the group did not meet the Jathedar in person, the letter was handed over to the Secretariat.
Speaking to the media, the SGPC members alleged that Sukhbir Singh Badal admitted to certain allegations before the Akal Takht on December 2 but later denied any wrongdoing publicly. They termed his actions as a “lame joke” and called for accountability.
The letter also highlighted three main issues:
1. Ignoring the recommendations of a seven-member committee formed by the Akal Takht on recruitments and violating its directives.
2. Disrespecting the withdrawal of the “Fakhr-e-Qaum” title from Parkash Singh Badal by lobbying for its reconsideration.
3. Misleading the Sikh community regarding past admissions of guilt.
The group urged the Akal Takht to take strict action against Sukhbir Singh Badal and other involved leaders for what they described as serious violations.
