Drug issue: Punjab Governor’s four-day visit to border areas in 6 districts from today

Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Banwari Lal Purohit is once again visiting the border area after tendering his resignation to the President of the country. From February 20 to 23, the Governor will gather information about Punjab’s security situation and the anti-drug campaign.

It is evident from his visit that his resignation has not been accepted yet. This marks the Governor’s sixth visit in the last two and a half years.

From February 20 to 23, he will visit the border districts of Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. He is scheduled to reach Fazilka on Tuesday, where he will also meet members of the Village Defence Committee at village Midda.

Governor Purohit plans to review the progress made since his last five visits to the region. To facilitate this, he will hold meetings with central agencies and state government officials.

Accompanying him are the Chief Secretary, DGP Punjab, BSF Punjab Frontier officers, Army officers, officers from NIA, and senior BSNL officials.
