Drug smuggling case: Summons to Majithia’s close aides for Feb 2
Chandigarh: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Punjab Police in the multi-crore drug smuggling case has summoned four individuals closely associated with Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia for questioning.
These individuals include Majithia’s former Personal Assistant and Officer on Special Duty (OSD), namely Major Shivcharan Singh Shivi, Kartar Singh, Talbir Singh Gill, and Buddha Ram. They are scheduled to provide statements on February 2. Previously, the SIT had interrogated Majithia, who was also summoned to provide records related to the case.
A new SIT, led by DIG HS Bhullar of Patiala Range, has taken charge of the Majithia case following the retirement of ADGP Mukhwinder Singh Chhina. Besides DIG Bhullar, Patiala SSP Varun Sharma, Dhuri SP Yogesh Sharma, and other officers have been included in the reconstituted SIT.
Majithia, who was questioned for seven hours on January 15, remains on bail in the case, asserting that it is politically motivated.
