Drugs being supplied from Gujarat to Punjab: Bhagwant Mann
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday said his government was taking new steps to end the drug menace.
Blaming the flow of cash and drugs into the state in the last three months for wooing voters, he said the model code of conduct was now over and the state government was ready to take action against the nexus between police officers and smugglers.
He said that drugs come to Punjab from Gujarat but the state is being defamed in this matter. “I have asked the DGP Punjab to immediately transfer lower rank officers in each police station,” he told reporters after a meeting of SSPs and other senior police officers of all districts here today.
More than 10,000 such officers have been transferred. If any police officer is found involved in the illegal trade of drugs, he will be dismissed from service immediately, CM said.
