Drugs worth over Rs 25 crore seized at Amritsar airport, Thai national arrested

Amritsar: The customs department at Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport in Amritsar has seized drugs worth over Rs 25 crore from a Thai national who arrived from Thailand, officials said.

Customs officials recovered 18.88 kg of ganja, valued at approximately Rs 18.88 crore in the international market, along with around 2 kg of a white synthetic drug worth about Rs 7 crore.

The passenger had landed at Amritsar airport on an Air India Express flight around 10 pm last night.

During a thorough inspection of his luggage, officials found the contraband. The accused has been arrested under Section 43 of the NDPS Act, 1985, and the drugs have been seized. Further investigation is underway.
