Electricity connections of five government schools disconnected in Jalandhar’s Shahkot over pending arrears
Jalandhar: In Punjab, five government schools have been engulfed in darkness as PSPCL has disconnected the power connections of five schools under Shahkot constituency of Jalandhar district over non-payment of electricity bills. One of them is said to be a smart school.
According to Powercom, the schools of village Bagga, Bhoipur, Budhanwal, Langewal and Saidpur have not paid electricity bills for about one-and-a-half years. About 40 to 50 thousand rupees were standing towards these schools. After this, PSPCL took action and disconnected the electricity of the schools. Due to this, school teachers and students are facing a lot of trouble.
Officials said that the bills would be cleared after getting funds from the finance department in a coming few days.
