Eye on Sikh votes before elections, BJP may send Ravneet Bittu to Rajya Sabha from Haryana
Chandigarh: Preparations have begun to send Ravneet Singh Bittu, who became Union Minister of State despite losing in Ludhiana, Punjab, to the Rajya Sabha. It is speculated that Ravneet Bittu might be fielded from the lone Rajya Sabha seat in Haryana. His entry from Haryana could prove to be a game changer. By doing this, the BJP is focusing on the Haryana Assembly and the four by-election seats in Punjab.
Regarding Haryana, elections can be announced at any time this year. Sikh votes have a significant influence in the districts of Haryana bordering Punjab. Previously, MLA Sandeep Singh commanded the Sikh vote in Haryana.
However, during the change of power, he was not given any ministerial post. By fielding Ravneet Bittu from Haryana’s vacant Rajya Sabha seat, the BJP aims to attract Sikh votes.
In Punjab, by-elections will be held in Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Barnala, and Chabbewal. After appointing Bittu as a Union Minister of State, the BJP hopes to increase its votes in these four seats by sending him to the Rajya Sabha.
