Eyes are the jewel of the body, and doctors are its jewelers

Eyes are the precious jewel of the body, and doctors are its jewelers, said Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan, while attending the 25th three-day annual conference of Punjab Ophthalmological Society here at Hotel Park Plaza on Saturday.  He said that healthcare is a profession for noble and educated people.

    After years of hard work and study, a person is able to add the word Doctor to his name, he said adding that this profession is related to service, thereby doctors have been given the most sacred status after God.

    Sandhwa said that the corporatization of healthcare services should be within a limit.  He added that if there is complete corporatization, then the service to the society will be left behind. He said that the Punjab government is ready to provide all possible help to the medical profession.  Meanwhile, the Speaker also invited doctors from other states to visit the Punjab Assembly. The organizers also honored the Assembly Speaker. This conference was hosted by Punjab Ophthalmological Society as Ludhiana Ophthalmological Society was taking care of entire event. President Dr. Barjinder Singh Rana and General Secretary Dr. Neeraj Arora said that more than five hundred doctors have participated in the conference and over two hundred research papers were being presented in it.

    During the conference, Dr. SK Chopra, former head of Ophthalmology Department of CMC Hospital and Dr. RK Grewal, former HOD of Ophthalmology Department of DMC Hospital were awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
