Farmer leader Dallewal on hunger strike for 53 days, 20kg weight dropped

Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on a hunger strike for 53 days at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana, with his health rapidly deteriorating.

According to fellow leader Abhimanyu Kohar, Dallewal has lost 20 kilograms, dropping from 86.95 kg to 66.4 kg.

In support of Dallewal, 111 individuals have also joined the hunger strike, which has entered its third day. A day earlier, administrative and police officials visited Dallewal in an attempt to address the situation.

Medical reports indicate that Dallewal’s kidney and liver parameters have worsened, with results at 1.75—well above the normal threshold of 1.

Farmer leaders have accused the government of presenting test results that show slower health decline in the Supreme Court, allegedly to downplay the severity of the situation.
