Farmer leader Dallewal’s condition critical after 24 days of hunger strike
Chandigarh: The health of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 24 days at the Khanauri border, has deteriorated significantly. Doctors have reported that his condition is critical, warning of a high risk of heart attack and multiple organ failure.
Dallewal collapsed this morning while taking a bath and remained unconscious for 8 to 10 minutes. According to the medical team attending him, his blood pressure has dropped, and his electrolyte levels are dangerously imbalanced.
Dr. Abhiraj, part of the supervising team, said, “The level of ketones in his body has increased, and he is at risk of a heart attack at any time. His condition remains extremely critical.”
Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar confirmed Dallewal’s worsening health. “He felt dizzy, vomited, and collapsed after taking a bath this morning. Though doctors managed to stabilize his blood pressure temporarily, his condition remains grave,” he said.
Despite his fragile state, Dallewal attended a Supreme Court hearing via video conferencing for about 12 to 15 minutes this afternoon.
Prominent leaders, including Shiromani Akali Dal’s Balwinder Singh Bhunder, SAD (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann, and representatives of various Haryana khaps, visited the Khanauri border today to express their solidarity and inquire about Dallewal’s health.
Satrod Khap leader Satish Kumar announced that a ‘mahapanchayat’ would be held in Hisar on December 29 to determine the next steps in the protest. He urged the central government to initiate dialogue with the farmers to address their demands and bring an end to the ongoing crisis.
