Farmer leader Dallewal’s hunger strike enters 77th day, medical concerns grow

Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana entered its 77th day on February 10.

For the past seven days, he has been without medical aid as doctors struggle to administer treatment due to blocked veins.

Meanwhile, the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has invited representatives from the Shambhu and Khanauri protests for a meeting in Chandigarh on February 12.

Farmers are expected to clarify their stance on the issue at a press conference in Shambhu Morcha today.

Dallewal is set to deliver a brief two-minute message to the public at the mahapanchayat in Khanauri on February 12, where he may also announce whether he will attend the February 14 meeting.

Farmer leader Abhimanyu Kohar highlighted the severity of Dallewal’s health condition, stating that his prolonged fast has weakened his body, making it difficult for doctors to locate veins for intravenous treatment.

Drips inserted into his veins are getting blocked within 48 to 72 hours, and multiple attempts to find alternative sites, including his legs, have been unsuccessful.
