Farmers block trains across Punjab and other states demanding justice in Lakhimpur Kheri case and MSP

Punjab: In protest against the lack of justice in the Lakhimpur Kheri case and in support of farmers’ demands, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Morcha and the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) are blocking trains at more than 50 locations across 22 districts in Punjab today for two hours.

Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated that the “rail roko” movement will take place from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM. The protest is aimed at demanding punishment for Ashish Monu Mishra, the son of the former Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, who is the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri case, as well as pushing for 12 other demands, including MSP.

 

Pandher added that the movement will also impact Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. In Punjab, protests are happening at locations such as Batala in Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran city and Patti in Tarn Taran district, Tanda and Hoshiarpur city in Hoshiarpur district, Qila Raipur and Sahnewal in Ludhiana district, Phillaur and Lohia in Jalandhar district, and several other places across Ferozepur, Moga, Patiala, Muktsar, Kapurthala, Sangrur, Malerkotla, Faridkot, Bathinda, and Pathankot districts. Additionally, train blockades are occurring at multiple locations in Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
