Farmers launch three-day rail roko agitation in Punjab
Punjab News: Various farmers’ organisations have launched a three-day rail roko agitation in Punjab from today. Farmers have been sitting on railway tracks at several places to press for their various demands, including a financial package for the damage caused by the floods. The agitation will continue till September 30.
The farmers have stopped trains in Moga, Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Sangrur, Patiala, Ferozepur, Bathinda and Amritsar districts.
Farmers are staging a sit-in on the Amritsar-Delhi railway track at Devidas Pura in Amritsar. Several farmer organisations including Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Krantikari), BKU (Ekta Azad), Azad Kisan Samiti Doaba, BKU (Behramke), BKU (Shaheed Bhagat Singh) and BKU (Chhotu Ram) are part of the agitation.
