Farmers to lift road blockades in Punjab, agitation to continue
Chandigarh: Following a meeting with Punjab ministers, farmers protesting against the slow lifting of paddy and a shortage of DAP have decided to continue their agitation but remove road blockades.
The meeting, held on Sunday, included Food Supplies Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak and Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh.
Farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher stated, “We made this decision to avoid inconveniencing the public. However, we will monitor the situation closely and reconsider if needed.”
The blockades on highways, including those at Phagwara, the Moga-Ferozepur highway, the Sangrur-Barnala highway, and the Gurdaspur-Sri Hargobindpur road, will be cleared shortly.
The ministers assured farmers of government support, adding that issues with shaler owners have been resolved. The meeting lasted around two hours.
