FIR lodged against 350 farmers for blocking tracks in Jalandhar
Jalandhar: A case has been registered against farmers for blocking the Jammu-National Highway and railway tracks to increase the rate of sugarcane in Jalandhar.
On November 24, 182 trains were affected during the protest on the railway track. In the complaint of the Railway Department, 2 named and 348 farmers have been accused in the GRP police station.
The named farmers include Balwinder Singh Raju Aulakh and Majha Kisan Sangharsh Committee president Baljinder Singh. No arrest has been made so far.
Highway closed for 84 hours, railway track closed for 24 hours
The farmers had blocked the New Delhi-Jammu national highway for nearly 84 hours demanding a hike in sugarcane prices and other demands. Due to which hundreds of people had to face problems due to the highway jam. The highway, which was closed for 84 hours, was opened at around 5.30 pm on Friday.
