Foreign cigarettes seized at Amritsar airport: Passenger brings 25,000 packs from Sharjah
Amritsar: Customs officials seized smuggled cigarettes at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport in Amritsar. These cigarettes were seized from a passenger. After which the customs have started taking action and questioning the captured passenger by seizing the cigarette. This is the second time in a month that cigarettes have been seized from Amritsar airport.
According to information received from the sources of the Customs Department, the passenger landed at Amritsar Airport from Sharjah. When his baggage was examined, 24,800 cigarettes were recovered from it. The market value was said to be Rs 4.21 lakh.
Gold smuggling from Dubai has been reported many times at Amritsar Airport, but this is the second case of cigarette smuggling in a month.
