Former Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh visits Nakodar Gurdwara

Jalandhar: Former Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh, paid obeisance at a Gurdwara in Nakodar on Wednesday. Several leaders of the rebel group, including Bibi Jagir Kaur, Prem Singh Chandumajra, and Gurpartap Singh Wadala, were present during the visit.

Speaking to the media, Giani Harpreet Singh said he had come to Punjab’s home district for religious preaching. “We have no caste enmity with any Sikh. The person given the charge is also a Sikh, but the method adopted was wrong, and the decision was hurtful to the Sikh community,” he said.

He added that their role as “watchmen of Guru Ghar” requires them to gather people and maintain unity. “We have come to Nakodar today to give a message that our dignity and resolve will remain intact only if we walk with our creed,” he said.

Addressing the issue of Kulwant Singh Mannan, the chief secretary of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Giani Harpreet Singh said, “If Mannan claims he was not taken into confidence about this decision, then he is wrong. He is a senior and experienced leader, and his role carries great responsibility. Not consulting him on any decision suggests something is amiss.”
