Former cabinet minister Madan Mohan Mittal rejoins BJP
Chandigarh: Former cabinet minister Madan Mohan Mittal, who had left the BJP ahead of the 2022 assembly polls to join the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has now confirmed his return to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Mittal had originally switched parties after the BJP denied a ticket to his son, Arvind Mittal.
Speaking at a press event at the Press Club, Mittal expressed that an alliance between SAD and BJP could prove beneficial for both parties as well as for Punjab and its cultural ethos, Punjabiyat.
He was critical of the current state of SAD, calling it a “mess” in Punjab. To mark the BJP’s recent electoral victory in Haryana, he distributed sweets during the event.
Mittal also took aim at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, claiming there was “no such thing as a government” in the state.
He further criticized the Congress, stating that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the party was in decline across the country. Mittal voiced optimism about the BJP’s growing presence in Punjab, predicting that the party would soon form a government in the state.
