Former MP Sushil Rinku sends legal notice to MP Channi, asks Channi to tender unconditional apology
Jalandhar: Amidst the campaigning for the Jalandhar West by-election, former Jalandhar MP Sushil Kumar Rinku has sent a nearly six-page legal notice to the current MP and former Chief Minister, Charanjit Channi. Channi has dismissed the allegations as false and malicious.
In a press conference, former MP Sushil Kumar Rinku said that his family has been serving the West Circle since his father’s time. Whether as an MLA or an MP, his sole motive has been to serve Jalandhar. After recently losing the Lok Sabha elections, Rinku congratulated former CM and Jalandhar MP Charanjit Singh Channi on his victory and spoke to him over the phone.
Rinku said that MP Channi has accused him of organizing gambling in his area. Rinku also presented a video showing Channi making these accusations, which he said caused him considerable distress.
Rinku further said that while he was in Congress, Channi used to praise him. He questioned why Channi had now started to criticize him, noting that he was previously referred to as a “diamond.”
He feels that an attempt has been made to tarnish his image and demanded that Channi either respond to the allegations against him or tender an unconditional apology.
