Four including AAP leader injured in clash between two groups in Abohar

Chandigarh: A violent altercation erupted at Malout Chowk in Abohar late Sunday evening, leaving four people injured, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Pankaj Narula and a woman.

The injured were promptly admitted to a government hospital for treatment, where doctors later referred Narula to Faridkot for further care after administering first aid.

The incident reportedly involved a clash between Narula and members of another family. Gurvinder Kaur and her brother Baldev Singh, who are currently undergoing treatment, alleged that they were attacked by Narula and his associates while they were out shopping for Rakhi with their father.

According to the siblings, Narula and his group surrounded them at Malout Chowk, assaulting them severely.

Narendra Singh, the father, further accused Narula of violating Sikh dignity by forcibly removing both his and his son’s turbans and pulling the hair of his beard. He claimed that Narula had deceived his daughter to seize their property and has been harassing their family for the past two years, using threats and exploiting connections within the government.

In response, Narula offered a different version of events, stating that he was involved in a family dispute on behalf of another party, which led to animosity from Gurvinder Kaur, Baldev Singh, and Narendra Singh. Narula claimed that the trio confronted and attacked him in front of Doda Sweet House at Malout Chowk as he was heading to the market.

The situation remains tense, with both sides leveling serious accusations against each other. Police are expected to investigate the incident further.
