Fresh FIR registered in Colonel assault case, SIT formed for probe

Chandigarh: The Patiala police have registered a fresh FIR based on the statements of Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath, amid demands by his family for a CBI probe and the transfer of SSP Nanak Singh from the district. Authorities have also announced the formation of a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure a fair probe.

Following the family’s request, the suspended police officers involved in the case have been transferred out of the district, and departmental action has been initiated against them. Security cover has also been provided to Colonel Bath’s family.

Earlier, Jaswinder Kaur Bath, wife of Colonel Bath, reiterated her demand for a CBI investigation during a press conference in Chandigarh. She accused 12 Punjab Police officers of assaulting her husband and son, Angad Bath.

She also demanded that an FIR be registered under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and that all accused officers be transferred out of Patiala.

Bath alleged that SSP Nanak Singh failed to act on their complaints, stating that despite repeated requests, authorities made false assurances, causing the family undue hardship.
