Fresh row erupts between Sri Akal Takht and Takht Patna Sahib over Jathedars’ authority

Amritsar: A fresh dispute has emerged between the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht and Takht Sri Patna Sahib, after the acting Jathedar of Patna Sahib rejected an order issued by the Panj Singh Sahiban from Sri Akal Takht.
In a meeting held at Takht Sri Patna Sahib, the acting Jathedar Bhai Baldev Singh, along with the Panj Pyaras, not only revoked the order issued by Sri Akal Takht but also rejected the authority of its acting Jathedar, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj. Additionally, Jathedar Gargaj and Baba Tek Singh, the Jathedar of Damdama Sahib, were declared a Tankhayia.
The meeting at Takht Patna Sahib was attended by Additional Head Granthi Bhai Dalip Singh, Senior Vice Granthi Bhai Gurdial Singh, Bhai Parshuram Singh, and Meet Granthi Bhai Amarjit Singh.
Following the meeting, a hukamnama was issued and uploaded on the official social media page of Takht Sri Patna Sahib. The directive was confirmed by Jagjot Singh Sohi, president of the Takht Sri Patna Sahib Prabandhak Committee.
The hukamnama described Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj and Baba Tek Singh as “alleged” and “self-imposed” Jathedars, intensifying tensions between the two Takhts.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal has been summoned to appear before Takht Sri Patna Sahib in connection with the ongoing case.
