From kabaddi player to drug kingpin, Ranjit Singh Jita Maur dies of heart attack

Jalandhar: Ranjit Singh Jita Maur, a drug kingpin and real estate developer, passed away following a heart attack late last evening. A resident of Kala Sanghiya village in Kapurthala, he was rushed to a hospital in Jalandhar, where he was declared dead.

Jita Maur had been unwell for the past few months, struggling to walk due to swollen legs. Once an international kabaddi player, he later built a vast real estate empire, developing 70 to 80 colonies in Doaba and Majha. His lavish lifestyle, including a fleet of expensive imported cars, brought him close to politicians and senior police officials.

His business empire, established in 2010, faced its first major setback in 2018 when he parted ways with his partner, Charan Singh. The two were later embroiled in over 30 civil and criminal cases.

In February 2022, the Special Task Force arrested Charan Singh in a drug case, booking 12 others based on his complaint, which led to Jita Maur coming under the Enforcement Directorate’s scanner.

Born in Kala Sanghiya, Jita Maur moved to London during his school years and trained in kabaddi under his uncle, Mahendra Singh Maur. His kabaddi matches were popular on YouTube in the late 1990s. His wife and four sons are settled in London.

He established multiple firms, including Great Green Build India Private Limited, GGB Royal Developers Private Limited, RBR Real Estate Developers Private Limited, and KBC Transport Private Limited.
