Giani Harpreet Singh resigns in emotional appeal, cites threats from Valtoha

Amritsar: Giani Harpreet Singh has officially resigned from his position as jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, confirming the decision through an emotional video statement.

In the video, he appealed to both the Punjab and Central governments to withdraw his security.

Giani Harpreet Singh pointed to the repeated criticism by Virsa Singh Valtoha as a key factor in his resignation, citing low-level rhetoric and baseless accusations. He said that and his family members received threats.

He claimed that derogatory terms like “Dalla” of the BJP and RSS were used against him, and that his family had been subjected to threats.

He expressed gratitude to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the opportunity to serve as jathedar and offered an apology to the Sikh community.
