Gold worth Rs 760 crore sold and purchased without paying tax in Amritsar and Ludhiana
Chandigarh: The Punjab government has detected tax evasion on sale and purchase of gold worth Rs 760 crore in Amritsar and Ludhiana. In Amritsar, gold worth Rs 336 crore was sold and purchased on fake bills, while in Ludhiana, gold worth Rs 424 crore was sold without bills.
It was initially suspected that the gold could be part of a consignment stolen from Pearson Airport called the Toronto Gold Heist.
