Gurdas Maan’s show canceled at Panjab University, sparks controversy

Chandigarh: Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan’s show at Panjab University was canceled, leading to a heated dispute on campus. This is the second such event to be canceled recently.

The cancellation was reportedly due to the organizers not obtaining permission from the Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) and the UT administration.

Despite the denial of permission, a stage with lighting was set up on campus, with officials claiming students arranged it themselves.

Panjab University’s DSW stated that while the university supports student-organized cultural events, the required clearances from the Chandigarh administration were not obtained.

As a result, the event was not allowed to proceed, though students were permitted to set up the stage at their own risk.
