GYMKHANA ELECTIONS: ANYONE USING FAKE ID OR IMPERSONATING AS VOTER WILL FACE STRICT LEGAL ACTION BESIDES CENCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP- DC VISHESH SARANGAL
Jalandhar: On the eve of Jullundur Gymkhana Club Elections, Deputy Commissioner-Cum-Senior Vice President of the club has issued strict guidelines for both voters and candidates so as to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the entire election procedure.
The Deputy Commissioner on Saturday took stock of arrangements made by the administration for the elections scheduled to be held between 8am to 5 pm on March 10, 2024 wherein he issued necessary directions to polling staff.
Divulging the details, Mr. Sarangal said that anyone found using fake ID or impersonating as voters have to face strict action ranging from cancelling his club membership to registration of FIR against such person. He appealed to all the club members and candidates to strictly abide by the rules and regulations fixed by the returning officer.
The DC categorically mentioned that use of cellular phones, cordless phones, wireless sets will not be allowed within 100 meter radius of pollutions stations. Likewise, voters have to obtain photo identification slips available in parking areas through RO teams and no other identification slip shall be admissible.
He also said that candidates shall be confined in their enclosures where they will get live feed of all the 8 polling stations. However, Candidates with the permission of RO may be allowed to have a round of the polling area but will not be allowed to sit in the polling booth or polling area. Similarly, security personnel attached to any person (except Z+ security case) will not be allowed in the premises.
Mr. Sarangal also appealed to candidates and their supporters to strictly follow the code of conduct laid down by the returning officer to ensure free, fair and transparent conduct of polls.
Pointing out further, he mentioned that no candidate is allowed to indulge in bribery to any voter and they shall not exercise any kind of influence on voters.
He further mentioned that voters should carry any of the following documents for the purpose of identification including club ID card, passport, driving license, aadhar card, pan card, government ID card, and epic card.
He also urged the voters to maintain secrecy of thrir votes by not showing ballot papers to any person as it will attract strict legal actions against such person.
The deputy commissioner reinforced that anyone found violating the above mentioned guidelines will be dealt with strictly as such members will be blacklisted from the club membership.
