HC seeks Centre’s response on non-increase in international flights from Chandigarh
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has pulled up the Centre for not increasing the number of international flights despite the installation of an upgraded landing system at the international airport here.
The court asked the Union Civil Aviation Secretary whether the Chandigarh airport is international and operates two international flights daily, while the Amritsar airport is domestic but 14 international flights operate from there.
Terming the limited connectivity of daily international flights from Chandigarh airport as unfortunate, the bench asked the secretary to file an affidavit in this regard.
The bench made it clear that if the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation does not file an affidavit within a month, its secretary should appear on his own on the next date of hearing.
