Heavy storms hit Punjab, three killed
Punjab News: Punjab witnessed heavy devastation due to last night’s storm. In many places the trees were uprooted and flew up to the roofs of the raw rooms. Three persons were killed and public life was badly affected due to the storm.
The storm has caused a loss of about Rs 18 crore to The Powercom. The power supply remained snapped throughout the night due to falling of poles at many places which the power department kept making efforts till late in the evening to fix it.
Chandigarh, Patiala, Mohali, Sangrur, Barnala, Bathinda, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Malerkotla, Fazilka, Faridkot and Ludhiana suffered heavy damage due to the storm that occurred around 12 am on Wednesday. The walls collapsed in Malerkotla and Nabha cities. Due to this, many vehicles of the people were damaged. Cattle sheds have also been badly damaged in many villages and many animals have been killed.
According to the Meteorological Department, winds with a speed of 100 kilometers per hour and rain have also occurred last night. The Meteorological Department says that the weather will remain clear in the coming days and the heat will also increase due to the increase in temperature.
