High Court stays panchayat polls in four Sangrur villages
Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the panchayat election process in four villages of Sangrur district, set for October 15.
A total of 10 petitions were filed from various villages in Sangrur, with five of them from the Sangrur assembly constituency alone.
Three petitions came from the Lehra constituency, while one each was from Dhuri and Sunam constituencies. Notably, no petitions were filed from Dirba constituency. Following hearings, five petitions were dismissed.
However, the elections in the villages of Gharachon, Jolian, and Sangatpura in Sangrur constituency, and Shahpur Kalan in Sunam constituency, have been stayed.
