Illicit liquor seizure ahead of elections in Jalandhar
Jalandhar News: In light of the upcoming elections, a special excise operation was conducted early this morning under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Excise) S.K. Garg, Jalandhar Zone.
Acting on the directions of Assistant Commissioner (Excise) Navjeet Singh, Jalandhar Range-II, and supervised by Excise Officer Sunil Gupta, a checkpoint (naka) was set up on the PPR to Model Town road in Jalandhar.
Excise Inspector Jaspal Singh, along with local police and excise personnel, apprehended Rajinder Singh, a resident of Model Town, and seized a variety of illicit liquor from his Honda Amaze (registration no. PB08EG4941).
The confiscated items include:
6 bottles of Black Label 12-year Scotch whiskey without track-and-trace or holograms.
47 bottles of PML 50° marka Santra liquor, intended for sale in Himachal Pradesh.
16 cans (500ml each) of Budweiser beer, intended for sale in Chandigarh.
24 cans (500ml each) of Kingfisher Ultra beer, also intended for sale in Chandigarh.
An FIR has been lodged at Division No. 6 Police Station, Jalandhar, and the accused was arrested on the spot, said Navjeet Singh Assistant Commissioner (Excise), Jalandhar West Range.
