In joint operation with NCB, Punjab police arrested drug smuggler, sent to Dibrugarh jail
Chandigarh: The Punjab Police has conducted a joint operation with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and detained a drug smuggler from Punjab and sent him to Dibrugarh jail in Assam.
The police have taken action against this trafficker under Section 3(1) (PIT-NDPS) of Prevention of Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Illicit Trafficking.
This is the first case in the state when someone has been detained under NDPS sections and transferred to a jail in another state.
It is clear that the Punjab government is now on action mode against drugs. The detained accused has been identified as Balwinder Singh alias Billa, a resident of Gurdaspur urban area.
Billa has more than 10 cases registered against him under the NDPS Act. At present, he came out on bail. The accused is involved in a cross-border drug smuggling network with Pakistani smugglers
