Increasing number of patients in PGI shows people’s faith in the institute: CJI Chandrachud

Chandigarh: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud today said the increasing number of patients at PGI Chandigarh reflects people’s faith in the institute. He said that people know that there will be good treatment here, due to which they turn to PGI. Similarly, people have faith in the Indian judicial system, due to which the number of cases is increasing, he said. He said that there is a need to strengthen the infrastructure in such institutions.

Chief Justice Chandrachud was addressing the 37th convocation of PGI. Later, he also attended a national event on ‘The Leadership of Technology in Indian Courts’.

The CJI said court decisions are in English and sometimes the common man does not understand the language. He said that the decisions are being translated into different languages so that the common man can also understand the language of justice.

He said that so far 22,000 decisions have been translated into Punjabi and 30,000 in Hindi. The CJI said that the help of Artificial Intelligence (Masnui Intelligence) is being sought for the process of translation.

He told the doctors who have taken degrees in PGI that just getting a degree is not a big deal. An emotional relationship with the patient is also important. Giving the example of the film ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’, he said that patients are cured by ‘Jadoo Ki Jafi’.
