“Inter-State Coordination Meeting Ensures Vigilance for Fair Lok Sabha Elections-2024”
Patiala: An Inter State Coordination meeting was convened today at the Conference Hall, Police Line, Patiala, with the primary aim of ensuring the fair, transparent, and peaceful conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections-2024. The meeting saw active participation from Civil Administration and Police Department Officers/Officials from adjoining districts of Punjab and Haryana.
Notable dignitaries present at the meeting included Divisional Commissioner Patiala D.S Mangat, Divisional Commissioner Ambala and Karnal Renu Phulia, Divisional Commissioner Hisar Geeta Bharti, DIG Patiala Range, Patiala Harcharan Singh Bhullar and several others from both Punjab and Haryana.
Key agenda items discussed during the meeting encompassed measures to curb the smuggling of illegal liquor, drugs, and cash through the installation of Inter-State checkpoints. Additionally, strategies were devised for the deployment of flying squad teams and patrolling parties to ensure vigilance in their respective areas.
A significant aspect addressed was the sharing of lists of Proclaimed Offenders, Bail Jumpers, and Parole Jumpers between the two states to facilitate concrete action against them. The forthcoming auction of liquor contracts in Punjab prompted discussions on bolstering vigilance in border areas to deter potential smuggling activities.
DIG Patiala Range HS Bhullar underscored the importance of identifying sensitive polling stations and booths, with a focus on executing action plans to curb illicit activities in areas along the Ghaggar river.
Furthermore, SSP Patiala Varun Sharma, emphasized the need for joint search operations between Punjab and Haryana, with a commitment to sharing any significant recoveries and investigating related links thoroughly.
Suggestions were made to engage with major transporters to prevent unauthorized distribution of chemicals on a large scale. The Excise and Tax Department assured round-the-clock checkpoints on Inter-State roads to bolster enforcement efforts.
