IRS officer’s son-in-law shot dead by ex-Punjab Police AIG

Chandigarh: Former Punjab AIG Malvinder Singh Sidhu shot dead his IRS officer son-in-law Harpreet Singh at the district court complex in Sector 43 here, police said on Saturday. Meanwhile, IRS officer Harpreet Singh was seriously injured and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. He died during treatment at the hospital.

As soon as the incident came to light, the Chandigarh Police arrested former AIG Malvinder Singh Sidhu. According to the information received, IRS officer Harpreet Singh was facing a divorce case with his wife.

In the same case, both the parties today gathered at the Mediation Center located in the District Court of Chandigarh. During this time, the former AIG opened fire on his son-in-law, due to which he died.

The police of Sector-36 police station of Chandigarh Police have arrested the former AIG and started investigating the case.
