Issues not resolved yet, keep supporting farmers’ agitation: Dallewal
Chandigarh: Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike since November 26, appealed to farmers to sustain their support for the ongoing agitation, cautioning them against assuming that their demands have been met following the Centre’s call for a meeting.
In his first public statement after receiving medical assistance, Dallewal expressed gratitude for the support of the people during the protests at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders.
“We have led this movement to victory, and the government had to back down,” Dallewal said, acknowledging the contribution of over 100 farmers on hunger strike and the youth’s involvement in the movement.
Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nanak Singh confirmed that Dallewal’s health has improved after receiving medical aid.
Dallewal praised the unity and resilience of the farmers, emphasizing that the sangat’s (people’s) unwavering support was instrumental in the success of the movement.
