Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike completes 100 days, farmers to intensify protest
Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s hunger strike at the Khanauri border between Punjab and Haryana completed 100 days on Wednesday.
In support of the protest, 100 farmers will observe a one-day hunger strike at Khanauri Morcha on Wednesday, while similar strikes will be held at district and tehsil levels across the country.
Dallewal is set to address farmers participating in the hunger strike. Meanwhile, farmer leaders have demanded the immediate release of the Samyukta Kisan Morcha leaders and activists, condemning their arrests as a setback to the movement.
Dallewal’s son, Gurpinder Singh Dallewal, urged people to strengthen the struggle, stating on social media that while the youth are occupied with harvesting wheat, the elderly can step forward. “We have to come out of our homes and support this movement,” he said.
Punjabi singer Resham Singh Anmol also met Dallewal to check on his health. However, his condition is reported to be improving.
