Jalandhar bypolls: Surjit Kaur announces to remain in the fray
Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Bibi Surjit Kaur has decided to contest from Jalandhar West assembly constituency. She appealed to the parents of newly-elected MPs Bhai Amritpal Singh and Sarabjit Singh to support her as some party leaders had tried their best to snatch the party’s election symbol.
She claimed that some leaders even went to the returning officer and gave a letter with fake signatures saying that she wanted to take back her nomination papers.
Pertinently, Jalandhar city president Kulwant Singh Mannan had announced that the party high command had decided not to support Bibi Surjit Kaur after a major faction of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) revolted. With Bibi Surjit Kaur in the fray, the situation in the SAD is becoming complicated.
