Jalandhar News: Over 90 thousand voters registered for SGPC polls in Jalandhar District
Jalandhar: As many as 90032 eligible people have enrolled their names in the voters list so far for the SGPC polls in the Jalandhar district.
Reviewing the progress of voters’ registration drive, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal directed the officials to ensure no eligible voters were left without their registration in the list.
He further stated that special camps were being held across the district to facilitate voters to register them for upcoming SGPC polls so that they can exercise their franchise in these elections.
The DC asked all the SDMs to personally monitor the exercise of voter’s registration in their respective areas. He added that the special camps have received massive response in the district with over 85,000 people applying for their registration so far.
He also said that the district had six SGPC constituencies including Phillaur, Nakodar, Shahkot, Adampur, Jalandhar city and Kartarpur. He said that the administration had started the special drive to ensure maximum voters’ registration for SGPC elections.
He also mentioned that all the Block Development and Panchayats Officers (BDPOs) were ensuring public announcements in the villages so that a maximum number of people can register as voters for SGPC elections.
He also urged representatives of Sikh organizations in sensitization of the people regarding registration as voters.
