Jalandhar West by-election: Polling parties leave for their respective booths
Jalandhar: As many as 181 polling parties on Tuesday left for polling booths along with voting machines from lyallpur Khalsa College for Women here for the July 10 by-election to the Assembly constituency 34-Jalandhar West.
District Election Officer–Deputy Commissioner Disclosing this here today, Mr. Himanshu Agarwal said that elaborate arrangements have been made by the district administration to conduct the by-elections in a free, fair and transparent manner.
He said that 181 polling booths have been set up for the convenience of a total of 171963 voters of the constituency, including 89629 male, 82326 female and 8 third gender voters. He said that 10 model polling booths have been set up in the constituency to provide a better voting experience to the voters. Apart from this, a polling booth will be operated only by women staff.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the polling for the by-election will be held from 7 am to 6 pm on July 10 (Wednesday). He appealed to the voters of the constituency to exercise their right to vote by actively participating in the elections.
