Jathedar asks SAD to comply with Akal Takht’s orders

Amritsar: Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht, Giani Raghbir Singh, has advised the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to abide by the orders issued by the Panj Singh Sahiban from the Akal Takht. He also stated that the complaint against Giani Harpreet Singh does not fall under the jurisdiction of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and suggested that the matter be handed over to the Akal Takht for investigation.

On the occasion of the Prakash Purb of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Giani Raghbir Singh congratulated the Sikh community and reiterated that the decisions made by the Five Singh Sahibans from the Akal Takht must be implemented.

He said that SAD should not hesitate to accept the resignations of Sukhbir Singh Badal and other party leaders as directed.

On December 2, the Five Singh Sahibans, including Giani Raghbir Singh, had directed the SAD’s Working Committee to accept the resignations of Sukhbir Singh Badal and other senior leaders. The committee was instructed to submit its compliance report to the Akal Takht within three days. However, the directive has not been followed.

At the time, SAD spokesperson Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema announced that the party had sought an additional 20 days from the Jathedar to take action on the matter. Despite the extension, the Working Committee has neither accepted the resignations nor submitted the required report to the Akal Takht.

The delay has raised questions about SAD’s commitment to adhering to the Akal Takht’s directives.
