Kisan Union (Ekta-Ugrahan) holds protests across Punjab
Chandigarh: Bhartiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugrahan on Thursday staged protests in 16 districts of Punjab against the sale of spurious fertilisers, shortage of DAP and forcible use of nano fertilizers and pesticides by farmers while purchasing fertilisers.
Meanwhile, the farmers submitted memorandums to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann through 15 Deputy Commissioners and two SDMs.
During this time, he demanded an early solution to the problems being faced by the farmers. On this occasion, president of the organization Joginder Singh Ugrahan, general secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan, Jhanda Singh Jethuke, Shingara Singh Mann, Roop Singh Channan, Janak Singh Bhutal, Jagtar Singh Kalajhar, Hardeep Singh Tallewal, Harinder Kaur Bindu, Kamaljit Kaur Barnala and Kuldeep Kaur Kusa among other leaders addressed the gathering.
Addressing protests at various places, the farmer leaders demanded that the sale of spurious fertilisers be banned in the state and strict legal action be taken against such manufacturing companies and dealers.
Along with the prevailing fertilizers, nano fertilizers and other additional items should be stopped by the cooperative societies and general dealers to the farmers.
He alleged that farmers were being looted blindly through the production and black marketing of spurious fertilizers by creating a crisis of fertilizers. The farmer leaders warned the state government to stop this black business.
