Labourer found dead in Ludhiana, two arrested

Ludhiana: A young labourer, Iqbaljit Singh, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Lohat Baddi, located in the Jagraon-Raikot area of Ludhiana. The 25-year-old had been missing since January 21.

Acting on a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother, Harmeet Kaur, police arrested two suspects, Udham Singh from Badundi and Kulwinder Singh from Lohat Baddi. Kulwinder Singh’s mother, Gurpreet Kaur, is reportedly a panchayat member.

Gursewak Singh, in charge of the Lohat Baddi police outpost, stated that the mother informed police on January 22. During the investigation, the body was discovered at Kulwinder Singh’s residence.

Harmeet Kaur alleged that her son consumed liquor with the accused, which was laced with a poisonous substance, leading to his death. A case has been registered, and the accused are in custody. The body has been sent for a postmortem as investigations continue.
